If you’ve been going to New Community for a while… you know our “special sauce.” It’s our DNA and what makes our church go.
For those who don’t know, we call it the BIG 3 and our goal as a church is to “lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ by creatively designing environments that encourage and equip people to Love God, Make Friends, and Change the World.”
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”John 1:5
One of the blessings of growing up being a pastor’s kid is seeing people completely adapt and be the extension of this vision. Steve Harris, a long-time member of New Community, instantly comes to my mind when I think of someone who understood the vision of NC and would do anything to lead others to the hope of the world [the local church]. Steve passed away this past Easter Sunday.
“Steve will forever be a memorial of LIGHT reminding me that my earthly circumstances do not and should not dictate my attitude.”Ethan Mitchell
Whenever I think of Steve I’ll never think of him suffering from human sickness or his crippled body after many surgeries. I’ll ALWAYS think of his ability to do what he was put on this earth to do… Love God, Make Friends, and Change the World.
Steve will forever be a memorial of LIGHT reminding me that my earthly circumstances do not and should not dictate my attitude.
While times may get tough (and they will), I need to “Be like Steve!”
While the darkness is dark… “The light shines in the darkness and the dark has not over come it.” (John 1:5)
Shining the light with you,
