A contrarian goes against the current.
They buy when everybody else is selling and they sell when everybody else is buying. They beat to a different drum, take the road less traveled, and make good decisions at less popular times.
“Here is the most amazing thing about God’s grace… God didn’t come to judge our mess; he came to clean up our mess if we trust in him! “Pastor Ken
Jesus Christ was a contrarian and true Christianity is contrarian as well! The premise of religion and all religious leaders is that mankind is essentially good and that our “goodness” if practiced enough will get us to heaven or closer to God.
But Jesus stated the opposite.
He once told a very religious and good person that he had to start all over again because we are such a mess that we can’t fix it without God! He literally told a grown man that he had to become “a baby again spiritually!”
Our sin (the mess) leads us away from God. But catch this… Jesus told Nicodemus that God would come and take care of his mess if he simply trusted in Jesus.
“God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.”John 3:17 NLT
And here is the most amazing thing about God’s grace… God didn’t come to judge our mess; he came to clean up our mess if we trust in him!
What a radical contrarian thought!
I’m a mess but God came to clean me up! Let’s take some time to remember Jesus’ words this week from the Apostle John – God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.
Trusting God to clean up my mess,
