James Brigade is a Men’s Ministry
of New Community to help
“the least of these”, and transform the lives of those we serve, as well as the men who serve them.
The James Brigade is a Men’s Ministry of New Community that recruits, trains, organizes, and deploys teams of men that permanently adopt the widowed, and others with long term needs within the church and the community.
Our Vision: We see James Brigade as a significant way to “help the least of these” locally (Matthew 25:40). It’s an opportunity to the majority of men of New Community. Our goal is to transform the lives of those we serve, as well as the lives of the men who serve them.
“OUR GOAL IS TO TRANSFORM THE LIVES OF THOSE WE SERVE, AS WELL AS THE LIVES OF THE MEN WHO SERVE THEM.”
“THEY COMMIT TO DONATE 3 HOURS OF THEIR TIME, ONE SATURDAY MORNING EACH MONTH, TO DO BASIC CHORES AROUND THE HOME…”
How It Works
Teams of four to five men join together and ‘adopt’ a widow, widower, a disabled or distressed individual (the care receiver).
They commit to donate 3 hours of their time, one Saturday morning each month, to do basic chores around the home such as clean gutters, repair steps, haul trash, trim bushes, fix leaky faucets, or various other needed activities.
Typically, the team meets together for prayer and devotions before going out to the care receiver’s home. At the end of the allotted work time, the team gathers back together to pray with the care receiver.
